    Diamonds and gemstones

+ - Are your diamonds conflict free?

We only buy diamonds from our trusted diamond trader. She works within one of the Belgian diamond bourses and adheres to the rules of The Kimberley Process (KP), thus making our diamonds conflict free.

What is The Kimberley Process (KP)?

The Kimberley Process is a commitment to remove conflict diamonds from the global supply chain. Today, participants actively prevent 99.8% of worldwide trade. With Antwerp as the world’s most important trade centre for diamonds, Belgium works closely with the European Union and other partners within the Kimberley Process to ensure a conflict-free diamond trade.

+ - Do you work with lab-grown diamonds?

Our in-stock collection only futures natural diamonds but we work with man-made diamonds for bespoke orders.

+ - Where are your gemstones from?

Our stones travel come from all over the world, so the gemstones you are wearing could be from Africa, America, Australia, India or even Madagascar!

If you want to know more about the origin of a specific stone, don’t hesitate to ask us.

+ - What should I consider when choosing a diamond?

We understand shopping for a diamond can be overwhelming!

By studying diamonds at the Gemmology Institute of America (GIA) we acquired the knowledge needed to ensure our clients get the best experience when buying their diamond and we will assist you in making the right decision. On appointment we can bring in a few diamonds for you to choose from within your budget and style.

First of all we recommend to start familiarising yourself with the 4Cs of diamond quality. This basic knowledge will not only unlock the mystery of a diamond’s quality, it will also help you understand a diamond’s value and price. But in the end you have to go for what feels right for you.

A diamond is and should be personal.

    + - What are the 4 C’s?

The 4 C’s stand for Carat, Clarity, Color and Cut.

Carat is used to measure the weight of diamonds and gemstones.

Clarity refers to how clear a diamond is and is based on how many inclusions are inside the diamond. The clearer a diamond is the rarer and thus, the higher the price.

Colour refers to the colour of a diamond. Diamonds tend to have a yellowish or brownish tint. The scale starts at D (colourless) and goes all the way down to Z (noticeable colour).

Cut refers to the cut of a diamond. Cut is the only contribution by man, while all others are naturally occurring. If a diamond has excellent proportions, symmetry and angles it is going to have optimal light return and be very sparkly. If a diamond has poor angles, poor symmetry and poor polish, it will appear dull and dark.

    REPAIRS & ALTERATIONS

    + - Do you offer a warranty?

In staying true to our high standards and quality, we offer a Lifetime Warranty to protect against defects in craftsmanship. The warranty does not include normal wear and tear or damages incurred due to trauma, negligence, lack of regular maintenance, loss, or theft. We also cannot cover any jewellery pieces that have been worked on by another jeweller.

In or out of warranty, we are always happy to repair damaged pieces. Fees for this service vary according to the extent of repair.

+ - Do you offer jewellery repairs and services for pieces by other jewellers?

This depends on the piece. If you bring in jewellery from other designers for repair this will be at your own risk. To ensure we deliver the best possible service we only accept repairs we feel confident to work on.

    + - What is Rhodium?

Rhodium plating is necessary to achieve a bright white finish on white gold. White gold’s true color is off-white. Since gold comes out of the ground yellow, we add white alloys to it to create white gold. Since we can never achieve a perfect bright white, white gold gets plated with a thin coat of rhodium, a rare metal that is a member of the platinum group.

+ - Why is the matte or polished finish on my ring fading?

No surface finish is permanent. Daily wear leads to small scratches on the surface of a polished ring. The accumulation of this wear will eventually make a polished ring look less polished and more matte. On the other hand, wearing a matte ring will eventually make the finish look more polished and less matte. If you would like to refresh the matte or polished finish of your ring, please contact us for an appointment.

+ - Do you offer resizing?

We understand sizing can be tricky and it is not always easy to get the perfect size on the first try. Depending on the design Pascale Masselis offers one complimentary ring resizing within one whole size, you just pay for shipping if it applies. Resizing will take approximately two weeks to complete.

We love getting to repurpose heirloom jewellery, as it can carry so much sentimental value and is an ethical option for your ring. We know that this process may be unfamiliar and are committed to providing the highest levels of service, consideration and care. Custom commissions are by appointment only; please call +32 497 31 96 09  to schedule your appointment.

+ - What is the price range for a custom design? Does it cost extra to custom-design jewellery?

Every piece is made in-house, so we have power over the materials and labour going into your piece. Tell us your budget and we will try to adjust the materials and design to accommodate it.

There is no upcharge for custom design, the price purely depends on the amount of labor and the type of materials involved in your piece. So no, custom is not more expensive than a ready-made piece, unless you want it to be. We suggest looking through our collection to get a feel for pricing.
